What is diffusion?
Fundamental Process: Diffusion is the natural movement of particles (atoms, ions, or molecules) from an area of higher concentration (where there are more of them) to an area of lower concentration (where there are fewer).
Driven by Random Motion: Particles in liquids and gases are constantly moving in random directions. This causes them to collide and spread out, leading to diffusion.
Reaching Equilibrium: Diffusion continues until the particles are evenly distributed, creating a state of equilibrium.
