Definition • Biodiversity is the amazing variety of life on Earth, encompassing all living organisms, from the tiniest bacteria to the tallest trees. It's not just about the number of species, but also the genetic diversity within each species, the variety of ecosystems, and the complex ecological relationships that bind them all together. Biodiversity, what it is? It is the veriety of plant's and animals living at one place, (bio) and (diversity) Bio means life and diversity means variety. You calculate the biodiversity by counding how many varietys of livings things are there in a specific land or area Usually islands have a lot of bioidversity, there are nearly half a million islands around the world, yet they hold 20% of plants variety and 15% of animals and other living organisms variety. Biodiversity let's the ecosystem function by having varietys of species which will help each other. Types of biodiversity? There are three types of biodiversity • Ecological biodiversity Organisms evolved features which helped them adapt to their surroundings or the ecosystems in which they live. There are different ecosystems and even related organisms living in different ecosystems may differ vastly from each other. Both are related but differ much especially in their feet. There is diversity of ecosystems • Species biodiversity Variety of species living in a certain geographical area constitutes species diversity. They cannot interbreed with another species. • Genetical biodiversity Genes control the features of a particular species. Genes of individuals belonging to the same species are similar. Every species has a gene pool. Gene pool means all the different kinds of genes found in a species. The gene pool of a species differs from that of another species.
