If we have a glass of water and then we put a rock into it , it flows and the water level increases
If we have a glass of water and mix it with something like salt or sugar , they become a substance but the water level does not increase , why ?
A normal glass of water will have water molecules but they will have space in-between them
Now if we take some salt and put it inside the water the salt will fill up the empty space of water
As you can see in the diagram , the white stuff are salt which are filling up the water molecules which look blue , thus salt and water become like a whole , a mixture , water molecules attract the salt molecules and that is why they are together
The positively-charged side of the water molecules are attracted to the negatively-charged chloride ions and the negatively-charged side of the water molecules are attracted to the positively-charged sodium ions.
If you put a stone inside water the water level increases as the particles increase
The molecules of water before the stones were put was at normal level
Now when we add something to the water the water level ha increased
Why ? its because the molecules aka particles were increased in the water while adding the stones thus the stones particles increased the level of water by occupying space
If a amount of water contained 90 particles ( assumption ) then the water level will be normal but if we add a stone containing 30 particles then the while glass or container will have 120 particles of substance within it , thus there will be a increase
Can you explain more on "The positively-charged side of the water molecules are attracted to the negatively-charged chloride ions and the negatively-charged side of the water molecules are attracted to the positively-charged sodium ions."
