Sublimation means the state solid will change into gas , it can only happen with few elements like carbon dioxide solid can change into gas and other more elements , like plastic , when you put it into a higher temperature it starts to turn into gas , as you could see gas could turn into liquid for example condensation , in the water cycle the rain pours through condensation when the gas turns into liquid , this process could also happen with the process called liquefaction , but liquid could turn into gas in the process of evaporation , solid turns into liquid by melting and liquid turns into solid by freezing.
Large increases or decreases in pressure or temperature can change the physical state of the matter , they seek some examples to get a better understanding of the change in physical state of matter.
Melting and freezing
The process by which the substance turns into a liquid is called melting point. For example, heating ice cubes can result in the change in state as it changes itself from solid to liquid , this could happen by melting the ice cubes. Freezing is when you change the state from liquid to solid , for example you add water into a small container and you put it inside a freezer , tomorrow when you open the freezer the water you added into the container would have changed its stated into ice , solid , in chemistry we are going to be learning about how it happens.
Sublimation
When the solid carbon dioxide is heated in the normal pressure they do not melt as they turn into gas , they are often called as dry ice as they are different from normal ice , the bottom layer is actually very dry , This change of state is called sublimation
Evaporation , boiling and condensation process
If a liquid is left by its own exposed to air that means it will evaporate , hotter the liquid is faster it will evaporate , after it evaporates and turns into gas , this change of state is called evaporation. After a period of time liquid would be hot enough to turn into gas , bubbles of gas appear inside the liquid , this process is called boiling , this takes place in a specific temperature known as the boiling point , it needs about 100 degrees to evaporate , water is kind of ( volatile - description of liquids evaporating faster ) liquid , ethanol , it has higher volatility than water as it can evaporate in 78 degrees , it has more volatility as it can evaporate faster than water.
