The sun , the eight planets and their moon , and other objects in the sky make up our solar system .

PLANET

A planet is a large body of matter that moves around a star such as the sun .

Mercury

The planet to the sun is called mercury .

It is hot , dry and covered with craters .

A crater is a large hole in the ground shaped like a bowl .

Venus is the second planet from the sun , it is surrounded by a think layer of clouds .

It is a hot , rocky planet covered with mountains , valleys and craters .

Venus has no moons .
