Stretching Spring
When a force is applied to a solid, the solid will deform. Applying force to a spring is the best way to represent the effect of the force. If you push the spring, it'll compress. If you pull the spring, it'll stretch :
If a force is applied to a solid, it'll change its shape or position. In case of spring, when there is a force on the spring, there is a displacement. Displacement is the change in spring by the force.
The effect of the force created by the load to stretch the spring is the extension. The extension is the displacement when it comes to stretching the spring.
Spring Constant
The spring constant represents the stiffness of a spring or an elastic material.
So, spring constant defines the stiffness by showing hoe much force it s needed in a unit of displacement. The more the force, the more the stiffness.
For Example :
Find the spring constant for spring if it requires a 9000 Newton force to pull spring 30.0 cm from the position of equilibrium. In this example, a 9000 N force is pulling on a spring. It means that the spring pulls back with an equal and opposite force of -9000 N. The spring constant of this spring is 30000 N/m.
