meristematic tissue is a type of plant tissue that consists of cells that can divide and develop into other plant tissues and organs:-

meristematic tissue

Function :- Promotes plant growth by continuously supplying new cells

location :- found in many parts of plant , including the tips of root and stems , in buds and nodes of stem , and in cambium

characteristics :- small , densely packed cells with thin cell walls , large cell nuclei , and no intercellular spaces

types :- primary meristems , which enable vertical growth and secondary meristems , which enable lateral growth .

meristematic tissue is important because it allows plants to continue growing as long as resources like water , sunlight , and carbon dioxide are available

some examples of meristematic tissue :-

Apical meristems: Located at the tips of roots and shoots, these are responsible for vertical growth

• Lateral meristems: Located along the stem, these are responsible for lateral growth or increase in width

• Intercalary meristems: Present in some monocots and located at the base of leaves
